The purpose of the athletic department is to provide a program which will aid the students in achieving their best.
The importance of sports and athletics in the lives of teenagers in our global society has never been greater. According to the American Council on Exercise and John Hopkins School of Medicine, "physically active children have a stronger self-image and more self-confidence." Issues that accompany low self-esteem challenges such as drugs or violence are not as pronounced in teenagers that are physically active and/or involved in sports.
The bottom line is that physical activity is essential for teenagers. It builds self-confidence and can be an excellent group activity for your family that fosters togetherness. Exercise is an activity that transcends age.
At WARE Prep Academy, athletics is just one factor in the total education of the student. Athletics can teach many lessons not taught in the classroom. It is in total development of the person - ethics, academically, and physically - that athletics plays its most momentous role.
The major objective within WARE Prep Academy athletics is to build character in our student athletes. Character is built after a hard fought win, after a tough loss, in disciplining and rewarding on and off the playing field. Sacrifices are made and patience must be exercised in the development of a young person's character.
The educational forum that athletics provides for student-athletes and coaches is tremendous. The key is how the coach, the teacher, grasps every teaching opportunity.
It is our belief at WARE Prep Academy that the process will take care of the product.
